KLPGA Tour to hold “Blue Canyon Championship” in Thailand in March 2024

The partnership between Thailand’s Blue Canyon Country Club Company Limited and Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) is confirmed at the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Tour (KLPGT) Secretariat, Seoul – Korea. The agreement signing ceremony was completed by Mr. Praphant Asava-aree, Chairman of Blue Canyon Country Club, and Mr. Kim Jung Tai, Chairman of Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) on Thursday, September 14th, 2023 aiming to promote the development of golf industry in Thailand with the goal of driving interest and nurturing the next generation of local golf talents to compete at the international level.

This tournament is set to kick off for another three years, starting from 2024 to 2026 at Blue Canyon Country Club, Phuket, Thailand with total prize money of 650,000 USD (about 860 million KRW). The first tournament in 2024 will be held in mid-March which official date will soon be announced.

Being part of Korea Ladies Professional Golf Tour, the Blue Canyon Championship includes an exchange tournament and travel experience for international golfers. The 2024 tournament will introduce new activities including exhibition booths, golf check-ins, golf practice experiences, fashion shows, and delicious food to ensure that participants will enjoy a wonderful experience in Thailand.

“It is an honour to host the KLPGA tournament,” says Mr. Praphant. “2024 will mark the 66th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Thailand. Through this competition, we will be able to celebrate and strengthen our relationships with sports and cultural exchange.”

In addition to the onsite game, it will be broadcasting live focusing on lady professional golfers in a hope to create memorable event for golf lovers, marking a milestone to present Phuket golf tourism to the international level.

Blue Canyon Country Club was crowned as Best Golf Course in Thailand (Canyon & Lakes Courses) by Asian Golf Awards 2018, Asia’s Best Golf Course – Asiamoney: 2004, 2005 & 2007. Recently, it was also named Thailand’s Best Golf Course 2022 during the World Golf Awards.

This tournament will be held at Canyon Course where it ranks as one of the most distinguished and prestigious championship courses in Asia. The striking masterpiece is sculpted with minimal disruption to the original landscape of an abandoned tin mine flanked by rubber plantations. Unveiled in December 1991, the award-winning Canyon Course has since been the ultimate experience for many golfers.
